Music Crush #15 (Playlist)!

Hey!

Obviously this weeks Music Crush had to be Christmas song - the problem is, I can't decide which one. I know I have this problem a lot but this week it's big and it's real. Decisions are just not happening.

So we're going to mix it up a little bit and do a Music Crush Playlist. Uh huh. I'm mixing it up good!

In no particular order...

1.
Last Christmas - Wham!

2.
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Michael Buble

3.
Driving Home For Christmas - Chris Rea

4.
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard

5.
All I Want for Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

6.
Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin' Stevens

7.
Underneath The Tree - Kelly Clarkson

8.
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - Dean Martin

9.
Do They Know It's Christmas? (1984 Version) - Band Aid

10.
Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade

11.
Run Run Rudolph - Kelly Clarkson

12.
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Michael Buble

13.
White Christmas - The Drifters

14.
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams

15.
Finally, and definitely the best of them all...
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

There! That is my Christmassy playlist! I love Christmas music and especially all of the old ones, they get me feeling all festive!

Music Crush #14

Another week, another Music Crush!

As always, my brain went through a million songs and couldn't decide which one it liked best but, eventually, I've gone for a bit of a chart-topper this week.

(I've also just realised this is the first Music Crush of December - it should have been a Christmas song!)

Taylor Swift

~~~
Blank Space
Now, I'm pretty sure it's a rite of passage that everyone should like at least one Taylor Swift song in their lifetime, whether you hate yourself for it or not, i.e. my best friend and her feelings about loving We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
I actually don't mind Taylor Swift's music the majority of the time - I loved Shake It Off and now I'm loving Blank Space so I can hardly say I dislike her music. I'm just not the biggest fan of her... And I hate the fact that she's against Spotify and music streaming so much; I'm a student, I can't afford to buy her album and if I can't listen to it on Spotify then I guess I won't be listening to it all. I bought Blank Space on iTunes but only because I was hearing it everywhere and it was bugging me not being able to listen to it but that doesn't mean I'm going to buy her whole album (I won't just in principle, because I'm stubborn like that!). I'm pretty sure that she doesn't need the money, so she should just be happy that she gets to live such an amazing life and people are enjoying her music, but hey ho - there's my little rant over, promise!
Back to the song; it's soooo good. I don't know what it is that I love so much about the tune but there's something there that's just damn catchy. Obviously I love the lyrics too (I hear you all saying "Shut up, Katie", you know).
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
That's definitely one (or two actually) of my favourite lines from the song because it's so true about a lot of things in life, especially relationships but not just them.
So here's the video, which is pretty weird but cool at the same time... if that's possible?
Hair Problems
Hello!
Hair dye. Yep, we’re going there.
I’m nineteen years old and I have never once dyed my hair, I think I deserve a massive pat on the back for that, it's quite the achievement in my opinion! Every single one of my friends has dyed their hair at least once, most several, and I have not once given into the peer pressure! I’ve been getting really bored of my hair lately, though and I want to do something different with it.
I’m against cutting it all off because, one; I’ve been growing it for a hell of a long time to get it to the length it’s at, and two; I’ll only like my short hair for a few months, max, and then I’ll want long hair again – something that I can’t just grow back at the click of my fingers.
I’ve tried fringes, no fringes, side fringes, all fringes and, again, I like them for a few months then I get bored of them too.
Then the other night I had a dream in which my hair was an ombré of my natural, dark brown colour and a honey blonde at the ends and it has made me seriously think about doing it. My problem? I’m not brave enough.
My hair is the one thing I love, and always have loved, about myself; I love the colour, I love it’s style (most of the time), it’s not really difficult to manage like some people’s, my hair has always been pretty nice to me and I’m scared, no, terrified, of ruining it.
I don’t want to do something as extreme as dye my hair and not like it, then not be able to get it back to my original colour and healthiness. I over-think, I know.
I’m so indecisive too, I can’t ever make a decision - I struggle to decide what I want for dinner every night! Even if I’m sure of which choice I want, I won’t make the decision in case someone else doesn’t agree!
I also considered maybe just putting in a few, little mulberry/cranberry red streaks but, again, I’m not quite brave enough, although I think that wouldn’t be quite as drastic as going full on blonde at the tips of my hair… I think a dark red could easily be disguised to with my colour hair if I decided I didn't like it.
I don’t knowwwww… I probably won’t end up doing it but I’d like to think I might. I really do want to… We’ll see...
Music Crush #6
Hello!
I've struggled slightly with this week's Music Crush because I've been listening to the same things over and over again, and those songs have already taken the lime light in previous Music Crushes.
That's why this week is a special Music Crush - rather than it just being one song, it's a whole EP by two girls who started off on YouTube, several years ago now, and it's been on loop on my iTunes.
Megan & Liz
Simple Life - EP
I did think about trying to choose just one song for the Music Crush but then I felt like I wasn't being fair to the rest of them.
So, the whole EP is my Music Crush!
However, if you do want just one song, aside from the obviously awesome song Simple Life - which the EP was named after - that tells you about the differences in their life since they moved from Nashville to LA and back, I would also suggest New At This - a great song if you've just turned eighteen (in the UK) or twenty-one (in America) because every word of it is so true about the new stage you start in life at that point.
Music Crush #2
Hello!
It's that time of week again where I have to make a decision on what my favourite song of the week has been... It's never an easy decision.
I decided (after a very long deliberation) to choose the song I've been listening to most this week and that is...
*drum rollllll*
Hunter Hayes
~~~
Wanted

It is such a cute song! The lyrics are what really catch me, I think.

I don''t know whether it's the literature student in me or the creative writing one, or maybe it's just a me thing, but I'm the kind of person that listens to the lyrics more than the song itself and the melody (although it has to be good to a certain extent if I'm going to listen to a song at all, it is the tune that catches you before the lyrics, after all).

I wanna wrap you up,
Wanna kiss your lips,
I wanna make you feel wanted

How can you not love someone who is singing lyrics like that? Maybe I'm just too soppy and sentimental but I love them.

Surprisingly, I quite like the underlying country tone to it, too...

Overall, this song gets a ten out of ten from me on the cuteness scale!

What do you think?

Music Crush #1

Hello!

I've had an idea... Not always a good thing, I know, but hear me out.

On a previous blog I shared with my friend, we did a weekly music crush and I was thinking of starting it again on here, because I really enjoy sharing what my current musical loves are and there are tons of them.

However, to try and switch it up a bit, because I listen to all sorts of different music all the time, I thought I could do a weekly music crush and then in the last week of a month do a mini playlist of all my favourite songs that month, as a round-up type thing... Let me know if this floats your boat, tickles your pickle, dings your dong, blah, blah, blah, or if you'd just prefer it to be a music crush every week or just a playlist at the end of the month... Yeah... Let me know!

So, getting down to the business!

I have so many favourite songs all the time, and I know every week I'm going to face the difficult decision of having to just pick one but it's good for me to exercise my decision making skills every so often... Right?

This weeks Music Crush was easy though!

Drum roll, please!

Sam Smith

Stay With Me

I love, love, love this song!

Who would have thought that anybody could make a one-night-stand sound romantic? Well, Sam Smith certainly thought he could and he sure did.

It's a beautiful song and the lyrics are equally as beautiful, even though I'm very aware of how strange that must sound when you think of the topic of the song but they really are.

Take a listen, I know you'll love it.

5 Things That Make Me Happy

Hello!

There are a lot of things that make me happy but here are just five - my indecisiveness made it extremely difficult to narrow it down to just five, but I've done it, finally!

1.
Books!
How can books not make you happy?! You get to imagine this whole new place and get overly-attached to characters and ahhh! I just LOVE books.

2.
The Little Ones
The little babies in my family never fail to make me smile. I told you all about taking the Daisy out the other day in THIS post and it was the happiest day I've had in ages because I can't not be happy when I see that cheeky little smile on her face (super mushy, I know!).

3.
Sunshine
I know a lot of people say sunshine makes them happy but when you live somewhere where sun is practically non-existent you crave every minute of sun you can get and you always appreciate it! So sun makes me extremely happy!

4.
Pajama Days
I know a lot of people say you should get up, get dressed and ready for the day every day but that just doesn't float my boat! I love the days when I have nothing planned and I can stay in my pj's and sit in bed with some tasty snacks and a book. Lazy days are perfect.

5.
Writing
When I can write for pleasure. Not to meet a deadline or because somebody wants me to - because I want to. That's when it makes me the happiest little bee around!

As you can see, it doesn't take much to keep me happy!
